New CEO at CRMC

By Mary Blyth Jones

Wayne C. Allen of Sparks Nevada was hired last week as the new hospital administrator at Coalinga Regional Medical Center to replace Sharon Spurgeon who retired earlier that week. A search for the next CEO was undertaken quite some time before Spurgeon’s departure.

Allen has served as a Health Care C-level Executive for over 35 years. A C-level executive indicates a level in which an executive is chief of some area or section of administration. An example of this is chief executive officer, or chief financial officer. Allen brought leadership, guidance and oversight to many hospitals through the years.  He has been part of restructuring, critical planning, and development of many health strategies.

Coalinga residents are already deeply concerned about the status of their sole hospital and its emergency room. Although many complain about experiences at CRMC, the fact remains that many others have found excellent care, and are grateful for the medical attention they received.

A town Hall meeting with Allen is scheduled for next Wednesday, April 11 at 6 PM in the board room at the Pavilion across from CRMC.
