December 8, 2021 • Elm Avenue
On Tuesday, December 8, 2021, Coalinga police officers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Elm Avenue and Walnut Street At approximately 3:30 PM.
Witnesses stated that the juvenile pedestrian had began crossing Elm Avenue, in the crosswalk near Royal Lodge, before traffic had come to a stop. As the juvenile was crossing the road, they were struck by a vehicle that did not see them due to their vision being blocked by a larger vehicle traveling beside them. The juvenile was taken to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno and treated for their injuries.
Fortunately, these collisions did not result in any major injuries and both juveniles are expected to
recover completely.
The Coalinga Police Department sends this message to parents: “Parents, please remind your children to make sure to look both ways before crossing the street, even
if they are in a crosswalk, and make sure traffic has stopped before crossing the road.”
