On Friday October 16, 2020, the Coalinga Police Department kicked off a 4-hour event which focused on compliance checks for those on probation and parole. This event stems from the recent shootings and gang activity in Coalinga.
The planning stages begin over a month ago when Coalinga Police Chief Darren Blevins requested the assistance from allied agencies within Fresno County. The department received an over whelming response from the other agencies.
Officers and Deputies from the Fresno County Sheriff Department, Kerman PD, Parlier PD, Selma PD, Sanger PD, Fowler PD, Kingsburg PD, Orange Cove PD, Mendota PD and Firebaugh PD. The Coalinga Police Department also received assistances from M.A.G.E.C., the Fresno County A.C.T team, Fresno County Probation, California Highway Patrol, Coalinga State Hospital Police Services, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CRT team), CDCR Parole, Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), the United States Attorney’s Office and the US Marshal’s Service.
The department identified several subjects within the City of Coalinga and of Huron which they contacted or attempted to contact during the sweep. Below is the statistical data from Friday nights compliance check.
Probation / Parole compliance checks: 45 completed
Traffic Stops: 29
Subject Checks: 5
Arrests: 11 Adults / 2 Juveniles
Firearms Recovered: 2 firearms
Both juveniles were transported to Fresno County Juvenile Justice Campus, one for a probation violation and the other was taken after a traffic enforcement was initiated and a short pursuit ensued. 9 out of the 11 adults were transported to the Fresno County jail on probation violations and the other two were cited due to medical issues. Request for charges will be forwarded to the Fresno County DA’s Office on several others.
