Coalinga Police Department’s Newest Addition

Coalinga – Press Release – Prepared by (I) Coalinga Chief of Police, Darren Blevins

EliMeet Canine Officer “ELI”. Eli comes to use for Law Dog K9 and owner Mark Sotelo. Eli is a 1-year old Belgian Malinois and is trained in handler protection and narcotics detection. Eli and his partner Officer Francisco Ybarra will be attending a 5-week handler and narcotics detection training in Fresno.
Eli is a great addition to the department; he is very sociable but when given the proper command he knows it’s time to go to work. Once Eli and his handler have completed their training, they will be assigned to a patrol shift where they will handle calls for service and will be utilized in helping with narcotic searches and warrant services.

When there out an about, please do not be afraid to come up and say hi. Eli will enjoy your company and a little rub on the back. Eli will attend most community functions, unless the are working, but even then, he will stop by to say hi.
Please join me in welcoming Eli to the Coalinga Police Department and most of all to our community.
