Date: November 20, 2021
Prepared By/Contact Person: Darren Blevins, Chief of Police

On November 19, 2021, around 11:30 PM, Officers from the Coalinga Police Department were dispatched and responded to the area of Fastrip after receiving reports of shots fired.

At that same time, other Coalinga police officers were involved in an unrelated vehicle stop near Coalinga Middle School and heard the shots. Officers arrived on scene and canvassed the area for a vehicle possibly involved in the incident. It was described as a silver-colored Honda and was last seen fleeing the area in a southerly direction.

During the investigation, it was determined that two adult males from Coalinga had been hit by gunfire during the incident.  One subject was hit in the lower torso while the second victim had been shot in both knees.

The victims fled the scene prior to officer’s arrival and later arrived at Coalinga Regional Medical
Center for medical treatment.  One victim was transported to Fresno Regional Medical Center by
ambulance, while the other victim refused treatment and left the hospital against medical advice.

Both men were uncooperative with officers and declined to provide any statements regarding the shooting.

Police Officers processed the scene and recovered nine shell casings and one fired bullet. This incident appears to be gang related and no other individuals were hurt during this incident.

The Coalinga Police Department is asking anyone who may have information regarding this shooting to please contact the Coalinga Police Department at (559) 935-1525 option number 1 or 0. You can remain anonymous. This case remains under investigation.
