Search Warrant Yields Illegal Firearms And Drugs 

On September 14, 2021, officers, with the assistance of the California Department of Corrections  and Rehabilitation Crisis Response Team, executed a search warrant in the 1400 block of  Springbrook Street. This is in the neighborhood south of Phelps across from Coalinga Regional medical Center.

The search warrant was based off a shooting that occurred on September 5th.  During the execution of the search warrant, the suspect, 21-year-old Coalinga resident, Victor Cardenas, attempted  to hide evidence as officers were calling for people to come out of the residence. Officers located  an unregistered/un-serialized pistol, several loaded magazines, cocaine and narcotic sales  paraphernalia in a pouch that Cardenas had attempted to hide. 

Cardenas was booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of Shooting at an inhabited dwelling,  Possession of a loaded firearm while in possession of drugs, Possession of drugs for sales and  Possession of an unregistered manufactured firearm.
