Police Officer Attacked By Pit Bull

Coalinga Police Department Press Release:

Local disturbance lead to an Officer being attacked by a pitbull.

On Thursday October 15, 2020 at 9:06 PM, Officers responded to the area of Durian and Fifth St. regarding a disturbance.

On arrival Officers contacted a female who stated a male subject attempted to hit her boyfriend. Officers were advised that the male subject was last seen walking through the alley between PG&E and Omni Salon.

The female was able to identify the male subject and Officers responded to his home in the 300 block of E. Glenn.

As officers approached the house the male subject’s pitbull broke through the fence and attacked one of the officers. The second officer on scene had to discharge his firearm to stop the animal from attacking the officer. The animal was injured and ran off.

The Officer sustained moderate injuries to his hand that will require stitches. Officers canvassed the area but were unable to find the animal due to the darkness.

If anyone locates the injured animal do not approach it, please contact the police department at (559) 935-1525 option 1, so the animal can be secured and be transported to an animal hospital for treatment.
