NOTIFICATION REGARDING AMENDED APPEARANCE AND PAYMENT DATES FOR CASES BEING HEARD AT THE “M” STREET

TRAFFIC DIVISION COURTHOUSE

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic which is causing numerous health and safety concerns, and the proclamations of a state of emergency issued by Governor Newsom and President Trump, the “M” Street Traffic Courthouse will be temporarily closed from March 19, 2020 through April 3, 2020.

If you received citation alleging an infraction violation of the California Vehicle Code and your due date is between the dates of March 19, 2020 – April 3, 2020, you will have until May 15, 2020 to address your citation. If you fail to address your citation by May 15, 2020 you will be deemed to have elected to proceed to a trial by written declaration and a civil assessment of up to $300.00 may be added to your balance.

If you received a citation alleging an infraction other than a Vehicle Code violation and your mandatory appearance date is between the dates of March 19, 2020 – April 3, 2020, the Court will notify you of your new appearance date. If you fail to appear on your new appearance date a warrant for your arrest may be issued.

If you have a juvenile traffic case, a SARB case, a truancy case, a Jobs 2000 case or a Small Claims case and your appearance date is between the dates of March 19, 2020 – April 3, 2020, the Court will notify you of your new appearance date.

If you have an adult or juvenile infraction case which is set for a court trial between the dates of March 19, 2020 – April 3, 2020, the Court will notify you of your new trial date.

If you are currently making payments on an infraction case you may continue to make payments online, through the mail or by using the Court’s drop-box. The Court will be temporally suspending collections activity until May 18, 2020. If you fail to make a payment by May 15, 2020, a civil assessment of up to $300.00 may be added to your balance and your account may be referred to a collections agency.
