CHUSD To Close Thursday March 19 – April 14

Press Release from the Office of the Superintendent

Lori Villanueva

March 13, 2020

Tonight, during an emergency meeting, the CHUSD Board of Trustees voted
to temporarily close schools from Thursday March 19th until Tuesday April
14th.
Although there are no reported illnesses in our area, we have decided to close in order to protect our children and families during this national emergency.

School will be in session on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, and teachers will be preparing and providing review and support materials to students before they leave on Wednesday.

The District will provide bagged breakfast and lunch to children. Details will be sent home on Wednesday as well.

Please note, that our action to close school for 12 days, leading in to Spring Break is meant to provide the social distancing that the health experts and President have called for to halt the progression of the COVID19 virus. That said, it is important that people stay home. Traveling during this time could bring COVID19 into our district when everyone returns. The government, Centers for Disease Control, and Departments of Health have called upon all
of us, as residents of our cities, state and nation to stop the movement of the
virus by remaining in our homes. I ask all of you to support our efforts to protect the lives and health of our children and community.

Please check our district website for updates.
