COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT CRACKDOWNS

For Immediate Release:
Date: March 22, 2019
Prepared by / Contact Person: Sean Young, (I)Lieutenant
On Thursday, March 21, 2019, officers were contacted by the Fresno County Health Department about complaints they had received from a mobile vendor within the City of Coalinga. The complaint included issues, including but not limited to, dealing with Health Department Inspections and Permits and City Business Licensing.
Officers located the subject near Olsen Park around 4 pm and verified that he did not have a City Business License and was not licensed by the Fresno County Health Department to sell consumables.
During the contact the subject was put into direct contact with the Fresno County Health Department. The Health Department advised the subject that he was to stop selling his products until he obtained the proper permits and was inspected and certified by the County Health Department. They also advised the subject that he was to dispose of the food he had in his possession because it could not be determined by the Health Department if it was safe to consume.
At the request of the Health Department, officers photographed the food that was disposed of and then sent them to the Health Department.
If you are looking to start a business, small or large, please remember to look into the proper permitting to avoid issues such as this.
