A fire broke out west of Coalinga on the south side of SR 198. Although it was small, it has since grown and has now burned 350+ Acres of land. Most homes in the area of Coalinga Springs are scheduled as evacuation. Homes outside that circumference are on a watch list.
The area has seen a number of fires through the past five years or so. One such batch was shown to have been caused by arson. The cause of this fire, dubbed the “Firestone Fire” is still pending investigation. CalFire is the agency in charge of the strategies for battling the blaze. Approximately 20 structures are currently threatened by the flames. Information will be updated when available.
