Vandalism Suspect Arrested

On March 28, 2024, around 6:55 AM, Coalinga Police Officers responded to a report in the 100 block of Hoover about an individual trespassing in a homeowner’s backyard. Upon arrival, officers discovered the intruder had entered the backyard, opened the rear door, and began shouting at the homeowner, insisting he leave “his” residence. Confused by the situation, the homeowner dialed 9-1-1. While speaking with the dispatcher, the trespasser fled.

With a description of the suspect in hand, officers presented the homeowner with a photo lineup. The homeowner identified Dyllan Hopkins, a 29-year-old Coalinga resident, as the individual in his backyard. Despite a search of the vicinity, Hopkins was not found.

Around 8 AM, officers spotted Hopkins near Third and Elm. When approached, Hopkins attempted to evade them, heading towards 4th and Glenn. During the pursuit, Hopkins grabbed a sizable rock, raising it threateningly towards the officers. Thankfully, officers managed to de-escalate the situation, persuading Hopkins to drop the rock. He was then taken into custody without further issues.

Hopkins was subsequently arrested and booked into Coalinga City Jail. He was later transferred to Fresno County Jail, facing charges of trespassing, resisting arrest, and assault on an officer with a weapon other than a firearm.

Hopkins was arrested in Coalinga last week on multiple charges involving vandalism.
