In a surprise announcement at Coalinga City Council meeting Thursday night, Mayor Ron Lander announced that he is not going to run for another term.
After serving the community of Coalinga for more than 25 years in various positions on Coalinga City Council, Lander said, “It’s time for a change” in his own life. He thanked city staff for the support they have shown through the years.
After the brief council meeting, members of council have time to make announcements or share news. They were in for another surprise as Council Member Tanya Stolz also read a prepared statement explaining that she will not be running for another term in her seat.
Both districts in which the seats were up for vote have now been relinquished. No matter who wins, it seems that it will be someone new.
