The Coalinga Police Department Welcomes Its Newest Police Officer Brian Meza

Officer Meza started with the city in April 2018 as a part time employee for the public works department. In July 2018, Meza was promoted to a full time employee and in December 2018 he transferred to the police department as the city’s Animal Control Officer where he served until June 2019.

For the past six months, Officer Meza has attended the 157th Class of the Fresno Police Academy, where he studied criminal and traffic laws, first aid, communications, vehicle operations, firearms training, chemical agents as well as weekly physical agility training.
Officer Meza, is the fourth officer the Coalinga Police Department has sponsored through the police academy. The other three sponsored officers are retired Police Sergeants Gregg Pimental and Rebecca Wagner along the current Police Chief Darren Blevins.

Chief Blevins said “The police department is excited to welcome officer Meza to the department and expects great things to come from him.

Officer Meza will now enter into a 16 week field training program which will include scenario training, arrest and control, firearms qualifications, policy and procedure training as well as the day to day workload of a police officer. Chief Blevins would like to thank Meza’s family and friends for their support while he attended the police Academy and their continued support in his new career.

Chief Blevins would like to invite the public to attend Officer Meza’s official swearing in on Thursday January 2, 2020.
