Highway Patrol officers are still investigating a crash that killed Stephen Joseph “Joe” Silva who was walking a pedestrian in Fresno County, just east of Coalinga.
It happened just before 9 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 33 near Lost Hills Road, just east of Merced Avenue.
According to the CHP, the Silva was apparently walking in the middle of the roadway (State Route 33 also known as Jayne Avenue) when he was hit.
The driver that hit the pedestrian stopped and called authorities.
Officers say the driver is cooperating with the investigation and don’t believe alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash.

Joe you were an awesome man and had a very good heart to many. We shared many fun memories together. You played drums so well. You were always my friend no matter the situations. You used to help bring positive to all. I remember one was, “I hope you have a good day” you would always say was the best way to say it. You left me with a tshirt I still have. May God guide you unto the heavens from here with peace.
