Coalinga Regional Medical Center held its board meeting tonight (April 25) at the medical pavilion building ajacent to the main hospital on Phelps Avenue to announce that closure is imminent.
With staff, patients, and community members, CEO Wayne C. Allen announced the grim reality facing Coalinga, Avenal and Huron. Althouth they had tried various resources, leads and options, CRMC had not secured a bridge loan needed to pave the way to some sort of future for the facility.
With a massive current and ever growing debt, Allen solemnly declared that CRMC will face closure in the next couple of weeks. More information will follow as it is gathered.

I’m sad as before I was torn, but my husband had a bad fall and everyone at CRMC was great to him. It has not always been peaches at this ER but this experience was great and the nurse reminded me of Jimmy’s cousin and she was so nice. I hugged before we left because I wanted her to know that her kindness was felt and it made a difference in my hubby’s care. I’ve had many great experiences and one being I was the first surgery patient ever performed at this new building. So with mixed feelings about why this is happening I will definitely miss this facility but I blame the people handing the money and the budgets and making sure this facility was safeguarded. They didn’t do their jobs…
Thank God! I almost lost my son because their emergency room staff were completely incompetent and couldn’t handle a simple asthma attack. The mistakes they made landed my son in the pediatric intensive care unit for 6 days then spent an additional 3 days in the recovery unit. I’m glad to see this place close I have had a good experience in this so called hospital! I’m sorry people are losing their jobs but in all honesty good riddance!
Correction to my previous post. I have never had a good experience in this so called hospital.
What is the reason for their failure? Mismanagement, not enough paying customers? I’ve been there twice in the last couple of months. My care was fine however both visits were about 2 hrs + at about $5000.00 per visit. Realizing my insurance probably bargains it down. Still my questions are valid. Mismanagement or not enough paying customers?
